The FIU ForEverglades scholarships are open to full-time graduate research students from Florida International University (FIU) pursuing degrees in sciences and engineering. Cross-disciplinary research efforts are of special interest. FIU ForEverglades scholarships provide up to $20,000/year (PhD level) and $10,000/year (MSc level) for stipends, tuition fees, travel and other research-related expenses.
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral associate. The successful applicant will join a newly funded study of nitrogen cycling in the Gulf, combining molecular techniques and N cycling rate measurements that will ultimately provide information relevant to oil impact on coastal ecosystems. Three potential post-doctoral opportunities are currently open via the Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE) and located at the US Environmental Protection Agency's National Exposure Research Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio. These are one year opportunities, starting July 1st, with potential to extend to at least two years based on available funding and recommendations by EPA project scientists. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) manages a system of 19 interconnected reservoirs that supply drinking water to over 9 million users in NYC and surrounding areas. NYC DEP uses terrestrial and reservoir simulation models to investigate the potential effects of climate change on water supply.
