15th Annual Workshop on LC/MS/MS Applications in Environmental Analysis and Food Safety

May 29-31, 2019 — Miami Beach, Florida

This is an annual scientific meeting that provides a forum for scientists, researchers, government agencies and industry partners to share and discuss results pertaining to environmental and food analysis using hyphenated chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques.

The workshop took place at Miami Beach, Florida, and consisted of two-and-a-half days with oral and poster presentations. The meeting ended on Friday, May 31.

  • 16th and 17th Annual Workshops
    The 16th annual conference will be held in Barcelona, Spain and the 17th annual conference will be held in Ottawa, Canada.
  • Student Award Recipients

    There were three student oral presentation winners and three student winners for poster presentations. The three students who won the Cambridge Isotope Laboratories Oral Presentation awards were:

    1. First Place Best Oral Presentation: Elisa N. Shoff (graduate student from FIU’s Dr. Francisco Fernandez Lima lab)
    2. Second Place Best Oral Presentation: Brian Ng (graduate student from FIU’s Dr. Piero Gardinali’s lab)
    3. Third Best Oral Presentation: Clement A. Olanrewaju (graduate student from FIU’s Dr. Francisco Fernandez Lima lab)


    The three students who won the Elsevier and SERC Poster Presentation awards were:

    1. First Best Poster Presentation: AM Abdullah (graduate student under FIU’s Dr. Kevin O’shea)
    2. Second Best Poster Presentation: Laura D. Brunelle (graduate student from the University at Buffalo)
    3. Third Best Poster Presentation: Logan Running  (graduate student from the University at Buffalo)
  • Call For Abstracts - CLOSED

    Abstracts for oral and poster presentations (1 page) should be submitted to Natalia Soares Quinete ( A 4-page abstract is required for potential publication in a special issue.

    Please use the following format:

    • Margins: Top, Left and Right: 2.5 cm; Bottom: 2 cm
  • Student Travel Award - CLOSED

    The 15th Annual Workshop in LC/MS/MS Applications in Environmental Analysis and Food Safety will be offering up to $500 in travel awards to students. If you would like to be considered for a student travel award, please submit the application material by no later than April 8, 2019. The application period for this award has been CLOSED.

    The following materials comprise a complete application package:

    • CV or Resume (2000 character maximum);
    • A one-page Abstract in one of the topics covered by the workshop;
    • A Statement of research goals and accomplishments by the applicant (250 word maximum);
    • A supporting statement by the applicant’s research advisor (one-side, single-page maximum).

    The final number of awards will be limited by available funds.
